Women have different fitness needs than men. While there is information on all of the pages that apply to men and women, this page has information that is specific to the fitness needs of women. There are several articles about cardio exercise, weight training, supplements and more. New information is added to this page on a regular basis. Please check back often.

WEIGHT TRAINING: Most women are not interested in developing huge muscles, but weight training can be useful for toning and firming. Visit the Weight Training page. Familiarize yourself with the different exercises for each body part. Use light weights and perform the exercises with strict controlled movements.

CARDIO TRAINING: The key to burning fat and getting into shape is to speed up your metabolism. The best way to do this is with cardio exercise. Cardio exercise includes running, swimming, bicycling, treadmill machines, stair stepper machines, etc. A good cardio workout can be accomplished in as little as 20 minutes a day, for three days a week. However, you must put in a lot of effort. If you spend 20 minutes on the treadmill or stair stepper machine with an easy program, it will not do you any good. Since you are only going to spend 20 minutes, you have to make those 20 minutes count. Visit the Training Principals page and read the section on Progressive Training and Cyclical Training. Read more about cardio training in the featured article section below.

DIET: Most people think of a diet as something that you go on temporarily for a certain period of time in order to lose a certain amount of weight. This is the wrong way to think of a diet. You need to pick a diet that you can stay on every day for the rest of your life. Eat food that is good for you and eat enough of it. The key to getting into shape and staying in shape is to burn more calories each day than you consume. Eat enough carbohydrates for energy and eat enough protein for muscle maintenance. Eliminate sweets. Visit the Food & Nutrition page for more information on protein, carbohydrates and fats.
